The SAVA Local Action Group (LAG), the Municipality of Pušća, the City of Sveta Nedelja, and the Municipalities of Marija Gorica and Luka established the SAVA Energy Community at the founding session of the Assembly held on 12 August 2025, in Pušća.
The new association operates as a renewable energy community with the aim of producing and sharing electricity from renewable sources among its members and the local community. This model enables communities and citizens to actively participate in the energy transition, reduce energy costs, and increase energy independence.
Maja Čičko, a representative of the SAVA LAG, was elected as the head of the SAVA Energy Community, while Filip Bernardić, the mayor of the Municipality of Pušća, was elected as the president.
"With this project, we show that local cooperation and joint action can bring concrete benefits to our citizens and the environment. The SAVA Energy Community is an example of how small communities can be great drivers of positive change," emphasised President Filip Bernardić.
The leader noted that the partnership project from the SAVA LAG strategy will finance the construction of 11 solar power plants, one in each local government unit covered by the LAG in whose area the SAVA Energy Community also operates.
The establishment of the SAVA Energy Community has paved the way for future projects of solar power plants, energy storage systems and innovative solutions for smart electricity distribution.
The Energy Community operates in the area of 11 local government units that are also covered by the SAVA LAG, and we hope that by the end of the year, the remaining municipalities and cities will also become members of the Energy Community.
