Announcing the Selection of Pilots for Citizen-led renovation: Spotlight on Diputació de Girona

We are excited to announce the selection of six Pilots for Phase II of the Citizen-led renovation (CLR) initiative. Among the selected pilots is Diputació de Girona (Girona Provincial Council), which has submitted a joint application representing five energy communities within its territory: ACEBV. Salt, EC. Tortellà, EC. Campdevànol, EC. Santjoanina, and EC. Mieres.

The Girona Provincial Council, through its Environmental Service, is dedicated to promoting energy transition, renewable energy, and efficiency enhancement across the province. Their application aims to foster the participation of the five different energy communities they have supported. The overarching goal is to deepen their understanding of citizen needs and preferences, establish a robust local ecosystem to support Renewable Energy Communities (RECs), and expand their knowledge of legal and regulatory aspects, as well as monitoring and impact evaluation of citizen-led renovations.

By participating in the CLR programme, the Girona Provincial Council seeks to leverage coordinated efforts across these five energy communities, potentially engaging around 100 members. The initiative is designed to empower citizens by providing the necessary tools and knowledge to drive energy renovations and renewable installations in their buildings.

In terms of funding, each household or REC member is estimated to require an average investment of €20,000. This comprehensive support will enable these communities to overcome financial, legal, and technical barriers, ultimately fostering a sustainable energy future.
