James Roscoe, representing the support service for Citizen-led renovation, participated in a panel discussion titled "Combatting Energy Poverty in Coal+ Regions through Energy Efficiency of Buildings and Citizen Empowerment." Roscoe highlighted the pivotal role energy communities can play in empowering European citizens to transition from coal to renewable energy sources.
During the discussion, Roscoe emphasised the significant contributions of energy communities in driving the energy transition. He pointed out that these communities promote local renewable energy projects and increase citizen engagement and ownership in the energy sector. Roscoe also shared the impressive results from CLR’s second call, which received 75 applications from 18 European countries.
"This demonstrates the widespread interest across Europe to collectively enhance energy efficiency in buildings and combat energy poverty through citizen empowerment and community-led initiatives," Roscoe noted. He further underscored the importance of nurturing energy communities through technical assistance programs like CLR, which are crucial for supporting these transitions.
