Phibsboro Village SEC, part of Triple SEC, recently organised an insightful retrofitting walk, showcasing practical energy-saving measures in the community. The event began with a tour of a typical red brick house, where Dr Gerry Wardell, a founding member of Phibsboro Village SEC, shared his personal experiences with home energy retrofitting. Participants learnt about various improvements that can significantly enhance energy efficiency.

The walk continued to the local Pitch n Putt course (Par 3 Golf), highlighting an exciting collaboration between the member-owned Pitch n Putt club and Phibsboro Village SEC. The project aims to install solar panels on the clubhouse roof, which, pending funding, will power the club’s electrified maintenance fleet. There will also be native Irish hedgerows planted on site.

The event concluded with a visit to a local A1 rated home, exemplifying the highest standards of energy efficiency. Throughout the walk, handouts were distributed to provide participants with valuable information on retrofitting their homes. These handouts are part of Triple SEC’s growing collection of guides designed to simplify energy retrofitting information and empower citizens to make informed decisions.

Phibsboro Village SEC’s retrofitting walk not only educated participants but also inspired them to take actionable steps towards improving energy efficiency in their own homes.
