On 11.11.2023, Triple SEC, representing three pioneering energy communities (Connecting Cabra SEC, Phibsboro Village Climate Club SEC, and Cosybatter SEC) in Dublin, in collaboration with Citizen led renovation initiative conducted a comprehensive workshop focused on citizen-led renovations. The workshop’s central theme revolved around establishing a unified vision for community-driven energy efficiency projects. With 17 participants from the Triple SEC energy communities, alongside experts from TU Dublin and energy ministry, the workshop was a melting pot of ideas and strategies.
A visioning session led by Diana from the Institute for European Energy and Climate Policy (IEECP), facilitated discussions about the future of energy communities. Participants were encouraged to reflect on and discuss their collective vision, with a focus on communication, actions, and benefits and well-being to energy communities. Discussions covered a range of topics from communication strategies using various tools and events to tangible actions like energy upgrades and the establishment of an Energy Bureau for public consultation. The project design discussions were particularly intense, with each energy community identifying specific actions, barriers, and roles. Crucial to these discussions were strategies for overcoming financial and technical barriers, ensuring efficient project management, and fostering volunteer engagement.
