We are excited to announce the selection of six Pilots for Phase II of the Citizen-led renovation (CLR) initiative. Among the selected pilots is the Italian Comunità Energetica Rinnovabile di Antrodoco linked to the municipality of Antrodoco.

Comunità Energetica Rinnovabile di Antrodoco, from the Lazio region, founded in 2019 in Antrodoco, Italy, aims to deliver environmental, economic, and social benefits through renewable energy projects. They support pilot projects to enhance renewable energy usage. Currently, they are improving energy efficiency in 12 residential and some non-residential buildings, aiming for 30%-40% energy savings with better insulation, new windows, airtightness, and renewable energy additions like solar panels and heat pumps.

With a €1 million investment, the project seeks to cut energy use and carbon emissions. The team of 10 volunteers and external experts excels in project oversight, construction, renewable energy, legal compliance, and community engagement.

Their efforts include progress monitoring, communication and engagement campaigns, co-designing operational and commercial structures, collective purchasing, and project bundling. The project is meant to be replicated in other communities, sharing methods and results via documentation, workshops, peer exchanges, and partnerships.

Stay tuned for more updates on the progress of these pilot projects and how they contribute to advancing citizen-led renovations across Europe.
