Energent, an energy cooperative founded in 2013, has been at the forefront of citizen-led renovation in East Flanders, Belgium. With a dedicated team of 13 employees and nine volunteers, supported by over 2,000 members, Energent has successfully implemented a range of renovation measures across 31 towns and villages, covering 61% of the province. Their Group Renovation Offer, which encompasses all renovation measures for buildings, has set a benchmark in Europe, reaching approximately 1.5 million inhabitants.
The event was a pleasant and productive meeting, underscoring the value of exchanging experiences at the European level. Participants were particularly intrigued by the concept of personas, with many organisations expressing interest in the personas defined by Energent and how they are used in their daily work: "Everyone knows a Cédric.".
The event underscored that while there is no one-size-fits-all solution to motivate people to renovate, the collective search for the best approaches continues.
Energent’s commitment to renewable energy and community involvement drives innovation and investment projects, volunteer and member movements, and essential services to citizens, including PV installation and group purchasing of technologies. This final event not only celebrated these achievements but also set the stage for continued progress in the journey towards sustainable, citizen-led energy renovations.
